Dancing Bears
Emily's little bed has a teddy bear mobile that hangs over it, and when I put her on the changing platform to change her diaper, I've started winding it up and letting it play for her. She thinks those bears are the coolest thing ever!
What's funny is that the mobile plays "Rockabye Baby", and I find myself singing along in my head - but I always sing the wrong words! I'm such a nerd, the words that first come to my mind are the ones from Through The Looking Glass:
Hushabye Lady in Alice's lap
Till the feast's ready, we've time for a nap
When the feast's over, we'll go to the ball
Red Queen, and White Queen, and Alice, and all!
Actually, I kinda like those words better...they're definitely more relaxing than a rhyme about falling out of a tree!
Visit with Mamaw
We went to Midland yesterday to see my grandmother (Mamaw) and Aunt Ruby & Uncle Jim, since none of them had had a chance to meet Emily yet.
Mamaw's husband was my Granddad. Unfortunately he never did get to meet Emily; he died just a few hours after she was born. That's where Emily got her middle name, Laverne - Granddad's name was LaVern.

We had a good visit. Everybody loved Emily, of course, and she got a lot of presents - "big girl" clothes! (size 3-6 months.) Everybody took turns lovin' on her and taking pictures, and after we visited for awhile, Mamaw gave her a bottle. Then, while we were getting ready to take some more pictures, Mamaw laid her down on the dining table, and she seemed to think that was pretty neat!
All in all, it was a fun day - and by the time we got home, Emily was one worn-out little girlie!

P.S. Today is Aunt Meaghan's birthday - Happy Birthday, Aunt Meaghan!!
Music Lesson
I got to listen to a really good piece of music today - a song Mom really likes, called "In The Hall Of The Mountain King."
We're trying to get into a routine. After my daddy goes to work in the morning, I'm usually wide awake, so I sit with Mom while she eats breakfast & plays on the computer a little bit. After a while I get bored with that, so we go back to the bedroom & I get my second breakfast. (Mom & Dad say I eat like a hobbit - whatever that is.) Then Mama plays with me! I get to go on my tummy on the bed. Everything looks very different when you're on your tummy. I can hold up my head and lift myself up partway with one arm, and Mama says that's real good, but I keep trying to do more and I just can't quite manage it...so I get frustrated sometimes.
After lunchtime, I'm usually sleepy again, so Mom lets me lie in her big bed with her, and we watch TV until we fall asleep. After our nap, Mama changes the TV to play music. Sometimes we listen to silly songs that make my mom laugh and bob her head up & down, and she dances me around the room. Sometimes it's a bunch of girl singers with guitars & Mom sings the songs to me. Today it was classical. The Mountain King song was neat, & we also heard a pretty song by somebody called James Galway. Mama said it was "Annie's Song" and she hummed along in my ear. I liked it, it was pretty - but Mom said we better not let Daddy catch us listening to that. She says he doesn't like John Denver. I don't know who that is... but I wonder what he ever did to my daddy?
