Is this not the cutest thing
you've ever seen?
Poor kid just played herself out.
Space Baby
I dreamed last night that NASA was looking for the very smartest babies, to send one up with the next Space Shuttle mission, and Emily made the cut (of course!)
In the dream, Ken was all excited - Emmie was gonna be on a spaceship! But I said "Absolutely not!" I saw what happened to the Challenger.
I said they could do all the testing and qualifying stuff, and when she was chosen, then we'd pull her out and they could go with the alternate (there's always an alternate.) And Emily would have the satisfaction of knowing that she was chosen by NASA as the smartest baby, and that's all she would need - cause even if she went, she wouldn't remember it when she got older anyway.
So that's what we did. And then the mother of the alternate baby did the same thing, so they ended up going with the third-choice. I don't know how the Space Shuttle flight went - I woke up then.
Happy Father's Day!
Emily got her Daddy a cool tie for Father's Day. We thought about getting him the traditional ugly tie with palm trees on it...but then we found a Jerry Garcia tie, and it even has a pocket on the back for an MP3 player! We thought it was pretty neat, and Daddy even let Emily try it on!
Juice!
We went to the doctor this week, and Emily is a healthy girl. She weighs 15lbs., 7oz., and is a big 25" tall.
We went to a new doctor this time, Dr. Brown, and we liked him very much. Emily had a great time at the doctor's office - right up until the time the nurse gave her her shots! The first one scared her a little bit & made her cry, but the second one - well, that was just adding insult to injury. That's when her face got red and the cry became a scream. And then the nurse stuck her a third time - by then, she was just beyond expression. Our sweet little Emily was one furious baby!
But she quieted down soon enough once it was all over, and she's been pretty good since - a little fussier than normal the next day, but her little legs don't seem to be hurting much at all.
Dr. Brown said he doesn't recommend starting solid foods until six months (which is fine with me) but that she could have some juice, mixed with water. So we have juice now as an afternoon treat, and she loves it!
Toy Story
This is Emily's monkey.
This is her favorite, favorite toy. He has a ring so he can hang on the handle of her carseat, but most of the time he sits in her saucer with her. She likes to chew on his nose (and his hands, and his butt...)
When Grampa & Nana Jo were here to visit, they got to play with the monkey, too!
Get That Monkey!
Grampa was trying to help Emmie figure out which part of the monkey is the best to eat. She usually just settles for whichever one is closest to her mouth.
